For a unique look that captures the brilliance of a round brilliant, check out the oval cut diamond rings from Mark Broumand. Though the oval diamond has been around for over 200 years, Lazare Kaplan standardized the modern cut in the 1960s. This modified brilliant hails from generations and many family ties in the diamond world. This family dedication to the beauty of the diamond can be seen in the oval cut. Ovals balance beauty and budget.Your oval will typically have 58 facets, inclusive of the table (large flat top facet) and culet (lowest pavilion facet). An ideal length-to-width ratio of the finished stone will be between 1.33:1 and 1.66:1. All oval stones will have some degree of the bowtie effect, which is a bowtie-shaped shadow within the center of the stone. A small amount is characteristic of modified brilliant shapes and will often be intensified in stones with a greater length-to-width ratio or which are excessively deep or shallow. Visual inspection of the stone is the best way to determine the degree of this characteristic in your diamond. Though you can find an oval in a solitaire setting, this shape’s beauty is intensified when set in a halo, three-stone or accent stone setting. Ovals also have a greater surface area than other profiles with the same carat weight. This will make an oval cut appear larger than other stones of the same carat weight. This diamond is an excellent choice for the couple on a budget, desiring the look of a larger stone. The elongated shape will also offer a slimming or lengthening effect to the ring finger. Unlike the slim and elegant marquise cut diamond ring, this cut creates no sharp corners. The durability of this stone is perfect for active, every day wear.Mark Broumand’s collection of oval cut diamond rings represents a wide array of sizes, styles and settings to match every taste and budget. This incredibly versatile ring can reflect the romance of the vintage era or upscale contemporary chic. The oval cut diamond is a preferred choice as an engagement ring, anniversary ring or custom designed ring as a gift. Each oval cut jewelry creation at Mark Broumand was selected for its high quality and elegance.

Cushion Cut Diamond Rings showcase a brilliant and uniquely square-shaped diamond with rounded sides and corners, often referred to as a “pillow shape”. The shape is often described as a hybrid of a rectangle and an oval shape diamond. The old mine, or antique cushion had 58 facets while the modern cushion has 64 large facets. Though the cushion cut is widely known in famous gemstones such as the Hope Diamond (45.45 carats), Regent Diamond (140.5 carats) and Yellow Tiffany Diamond (128.54 carats), the cut is rather rare. Larger facets highlight the diamond’s clarity and the modified brilliant shape increases the stone’s brilliance.Originally known as the Old Mine Cut, this diamond has been around for nearly 200 years and was as popular in its time as the round brilliant is today. Due to its larger facets, the cushion cut returns light in chunkier patterns than many other modern shapes. The changes that Marcel Tolkowsky began making to the Old Mine in the 1920s amplified the inner light of the diamond. Many buyers are attracted to the scarcity of the cushion. The look of the stone combines modern day brilliance with a classic and romantic feel. Cushion cuts often render a more intense fire than other stones, but are less brilliant than the round cut. The cushion is also one of the preferred choices for fancy colored diamonds, since it can intensify the color. Cushion cut stones generally display one of three fundamental facet patterns which can create varied appearances. The shape of the stone can also vary between diamonds; some will have more rounded sides while others have sides that are more linear. Most will be square-shaped and other stones may be more of a rectangular shape. A cushion with larger facets will create broad flashes of fire. Smaller facets of the cut result in more precise bursts of fire often referred to as “pinfire”.Mark Broumand has hand selected many stunning pieces for his cushion cut ring collection. This diamond is amazing in any ring setting. This ring is ideal for a lady that desires a popular and classic style in a recognizable, yet rare cut. Much like “The One”, fiery and rare cushion cut diamond engagement rings are beautiful and scarce finds.

His engineering background led him to study mathematical calculations about light behavior and how to maximize the brilliance in a natural stone. There are few diamonds as symbolic in emotion as the heart shaped diamond ring. This modification of the incredibly brilliant round cut diamond is shaped to honor the universal symbol of love, while retaining the highly desired brilliance of a standard round. You will want to select a stone with perfect symmetry; the left and right half should mirror each other and the top cleft and lower point should align. A weight of greater than .50 carats will be desired so that the outline of this special shape will be well defined visually. Smaller sized hearts are best set in a bezel or three-prong setting (one on the shoulder of each lobe and one at the bottom point) and larger stones may use a fourth prong.
Heart shaped diamonds have been traced back to the royalty of the 16th century when Mary, Queen of Scots presented one to Queen Elizabeth; the gift was given as a sign of goodwill and friendship. These silhouettes were especially cherished given that the heart shape was very difficult to cut during those times. The heart shaped diamonds that we enjoy today were standardized in the early 1900s.
The silhouette or shape itself will be a matter of personal preference. You or your fiancèe may like a more traditional heart, with a deep cleft and rounded lobes. Others may favor a more slender heart with lobes that are straighter and a more shallow cleft. Different lengths and widths are also affected by the particular setting of the ring. When searching for a heart shaped engagement ring, symmetry and clarity are critical.
You will find only the most symmetrical and highest quality diamonds used in Mark Broumand’s collection of Modified brilliant diamond rings. If you are searching for a diamond engagement ring, a heart shape will stun in a solitaire or halo setting. A heart shaped diamond anniversary ring will wow in a three-stone ring setting. The brilliance of your special shaped diamond will sparkle as either a white or fancy colored diamond. Browse our selection or create your own special ring when searching for the perfect symbol of your love.

Many people greatly desire the linear and clean vintage look of the Emerald cut diamond ring. The rectangular and clean lines of the Emerald diamond was standardized during the Art Deco Period of the 1940s. The distinctive look of this stone makes it a very popular diamond choice among antique jewelry fans.
The Emerald Cut diamond was originally created for use in Emeralds to maximize the sparkle and brilliance of the gemstone. An Emerald shape diamond will have a very large table, or flat top and requires a very high quality stone, in both color and clarity since flaws and imperfections will be readily visible. If a rough stone does contain inclusions, it may be cut so that the flaws occur within the shorter ends or corners of the stone. This allows blemishes to be hidden within these facets.
This shape’s facets are created by step or trap cuts that are long and narrow. The number of facets in Emerald Cut diamond rings will range between 50 and 58. The ideal length-to-width ratio of this rectangular profile is approximately 1.4 to 1. These rectangular beauties have corner points that are vulnerable to chipping or breakage and will be protected with prongs. Since the corners are intact with only a small section removed for bevel, approximately 80% of a rough stone is retained as the finished stone greater maximizing the value of this rectangular beauty.
This stone does not possess the “sparkle” or brilliance of many other diamonds; the cut maximizes a diamond’s inherent color, luster and clarity. If you desire a square shape stone with incredible fire, you may be interested in the beautiful and brilliant princess cut diamond ring. Most Emerald Diamond Engagement Rings will be set with the center stone parallel to the finger. Since the Emerald Cut is so bold as a center stone, the stone will look captivating as a solitaire, in a three-stone setting or accented with side stones.
The Emerald Cut diamond ring exudes linear sophistication and a vintage elegance for anyone wearing it. Visit Mark Broumand to find the perfect Emerald cut diamond ring, as an engagement or anniversary ring that will surely wow her.

If you are looking for a uniquely shaped engagement ring, look no further than a Marquise cut diamond ring from Mark Broumand. Also referred to as the “Navette Cut”, this delicate diamond features an elongated oval shape with tapered, pointed ends. The Marquise was originally commissioned in the 18th century by King Louis XV of France to honor his longtime mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour’s perfectly shaped kiss.
Your 58-facet modified brilliant stone will have perfect symmetry as this is a crucial part of this diamond’s profile. The pointed ends should align with each other and left and right sides should mirror each other. Much like the notable and unique oval cut diamond ring, this stone is long and slender and creates a slimming and elongating effect on the finger at the wearer. These visually stunning and unique diamond rings very sophisticated and elegant and delicate. The ideal length to with ratio for this stone will be 2:1. This ratio is ideal to balance out stability without sacrificing the brilliance of the stone.
This special profile contains a large table, or flat top and your diamond will have high quality color and be very clear. Inclusions are often hidden within the shorter ends of the stone where they can disappear within the facet work of the stone. Per carat, your Marquise has the largest crown surface area of any other diamond and will appear larger than other shapes of the same weight. Care must be taken with the tapered ends and should be sent in prongs or a bezel setting to protect the delicate ends from chipping or breakage.
Each Marquise engagement ring that Mark Broumand has selected for his jewelry store was selected for its high quality clarity, color and symmetry. Every piece of jewelry Mark selects must also be visually stunning. If you desire a ring that is delicate and unique at an incredible value, the Marquise cut engagement ring is a sure thing.
