Antique Cushion Cut Diamond Engagement Rings

Antique cushion cut diamond engagement rings were preceded by the Old Mine of the 1800s, which was a square shape with round corners. This profile was very deep with large facets, a high crown, small table (flat, top facet of a diamond). Antique cushions were developed when gemstones were crafted by candlelight. The larger facets were created to maximize light refraction, inner fire and scintillation of a diamond when viewed by candlelight. The brilliance of antique cut cushions is different than that of modern day round brilliants.

One advantage to a modern day antique cut engagement ring is the ability to use the highest clarity stones available. The center diamond is a 1.58ct antique cushion brilliant cut, certified by GIA at F-VS1. This stone is exceptionally white and tremendously clear. It is bezel set by a halo of pavé round diamonds which continue down the sides. The center connectors are pavé set with rounds dotted with a larger center diamond, also bevel set.

The Antique diamonds that Mark Broumand has selected for his engagement rings portfolio use modern technology to recreate the facet patterns and romantic look of vintage stones. If you love more fire in a diamond with a larger facet pattern, than the antique cushion cut diamond engagement ring will make an excellent choice.
